The Cucamonga Valley Water District (CVWD/District) is pleased to announce the kick-off of its 2017 Water Savvy Landscape Contest. The purpose of this program is to recognize customers who have taken the initiative to conserve water by installing attractive, low-water use landscapes at their homes. The Landscape Contest is open to all CVWD customers through April 30, 2017. Landscapes will be judged based on set criteria: water efficiency and natural resource preservation, appearance, plant selection, and irrigation design. Up to three winners will receive a $250 gift card to a local nursery, a sign for their yard, recognition on the CVWD website and in the customer newsletter, and an invitation to participate in a future Water Savvy Garden Tour.
“Whether rain or shine, it is always important save water and CVWD encourages this through programs like the Water Savvy Landscape Contest,” stated CVWD Board President James V. Curatalo Jr. “The Landscape Contest is a valuable program that enables CVWD to recognize customers who are setting the example for the community through their model landscapes. If you or your neighbors have a water saving landscape we hope you will apply!”
CVWD is committed to improving outdoor water efficiency within the region and has been educating residents since 2005 through landscape programs like the Water Savvy Garden Tour and various drought tolerant landscape workshops. You can learn how to make your landscape water efficient by visiting the District’s website or by visiting the demonstration landscapes located on CVWD’s campus.
