The Board of Directors has an important policy role in the business affairs of the District. The Board is an effective, high-performance team, where members dedicate valuable time to address local, regional and statewide issues. The Board actively advocates on the behalf of its ratepayers to ensure regional and statewide policies protect our water supplies, provide supply reliability for future generations, and maintain a high level of transparency and open government. The District General Manager/Chief Executive Officer is appointed by the Board of Directors and oversees the day-to-day operations of the District.
Members of the public are welcome to attend CVWD Board Meetings, held every second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m, located at the District's Administrative Offices: 10440 Ashford St., Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730.

In January 2020, the CVWD Board of Directors took action, as required by Senate Bill 415, by adopting Resolution No. 2020-1-2 to change the district general election from November of odd-numbered years to the statewide general election in November of even-numbered years, beginning with the November 2022 election. The election cycle change was a public process that was approved by CVWD and the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors at public meetings.
The next General Election is scheduled for November 2026, Divisions 3, 4 and 5 will be up for election.
The San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters administers all local elections including the Cucamonga Valley Water District’s. For more information on the elections please visit https://elections.sbcounty.gov/.
In September 2025, the CVWD Board of Directors adopted Ordinance No. 2025-9-1 enacting local campaign contribution limits and regulations for candidates running for a seat on the Board. The Ordinance sets the campaign contribution limit to the limit established by the Fair Political Practices Committee (FPPC) under AB 571 that any candidate seeking elective office for the Cucamonga Valley Water District can solicit or receive for themselves and/or their controlled committee(s). Said contribution limit is $5,900 per person per election as of the effective date of the Ordinance and shall be adjusted at the same time, and in the same manner, and in the same amount as the adjustment made by the FPPC in January of every odd-numbered year. The FPPC adjustment reflects any increase or decrease in the Consumer Price Index
In September 2025, the CVWD Board of Directors adopted Ordinance No. 2025-9-2 adjusting the per diem rate to $300 per day of service for a maximum of 10 days a month.
