LEGISLATION
The Cucamonga Valley Water District is an active leader in water and local governance public policy and works diligently to keep your water rates low and stable and to protect the quality and reliability of your water. CVWD works closely with other agencies and legislative representatives to promote policy initiatives that advance new and innovative technologies and programs.
This section of our website is designed to be a resource for residents, businesses, local elected officials, and the media. We want you to know about legislative proposals before laws and policies are enacted. It will also provide you with information about key water and governance policy discussions occurring at the state and federal level.
HOT ISSUES
Bay-Delta Water Conveyance
The California WaterFix was a $17 billion proposal to invest and improve the water system that delivers water from Northern California to Southern California. Governor Newsom recently committed to moving forward with a one-tunnel Delta Conveyance Solution, instead of the previously planned two-tunnel WaterFix. The single-tunnel project will require a new environmental review and planning process that will delay the construction of the project for several years.
CVWD remains committed to a cost-effective solution that will create a more reliable imported water supply, protect the environment, has the ability to capture and store additional water during wet years, and protect the water supply from natural disasters.
