The Cucamonga Valley Water District (CVWD/District) is celebrating Smart Irrigation Month this July by educating customers on the importance of efficient water use in your yard. Smart Irrigation Month, spearheaded by the Irrigation Association, is a public outreach campaign celebrated every July to create awareness about water saving devices and ways to cut water waste outdoors. CVWD encourages customers to use water efficiently, fix leaks immediately and take advantage of valuable conservation rebates and programs.
Customers can find “Smart Irrigation” tips all month long on CVWD’s website and social media channels- CVWDwater.com, Facebook.com/CVWDwater, Instagram.com/CVWDwater, Twitter.com/CVWDwater, and YouTube.com/CVWDwater.
Keep in mind these “Smart Irrigation” tips all year long:
- Check for and fix misaligned and broken sprinklers, include those spraying the sidewalk or street;
- Install water saving devices like high efficiency sprinkler nozzles and weather based irrigation controllers;
- Make sure you run sprinklers in the early morning hours before sunrise to avoid water lost to evaporation and afternoon winds;
The District has a number of programs available to customers including the Parkway Turf Replacement Program and the Residential Controller Upgrade Program. Rebates are available for weather based irrigation controllers, high efficiency sprinkler nozzles, rain barrels, and soil moisture sensors.
